We have received up to 150 projects from over 20 regions this year. The team at GagaOOLala has spent the past 2 weeks reviewing each of the submissions to shortlist the best 15 LGBTQ+ shorts, features and series. All the nominees will attend the online pitching sessions on November 16th (Taipei time) to introduce their projects to the international advisory panel. Six winners will be announced later on and receive funding from GagaOOLala.

Congratulations to all filmmakers! Thank you very much to all the people who have sent their pitch to us for your support and assistance during the 2020 GagaOOLala Pitching Sessions. We look forward to collaborating with you in the future.

A. PURPOSE

  1. GagaOOLala Pitching Sessions (GPS) looks to invest in groundbreaking LGBTQ+ series, features and short films and bring original and innovative content to GagaOOLala, Asia’s first LGBTQ+ streaming platform.

  2. This year, GPS will take place on November 16th online. As part of the 2020 Taiwan Creative Content Fest International Market (TCFF), GagaOOLala in cooperation with TAICCA (Taiwan Creative Content Agency) will assist outstanding local and international filmmakers with a total funding of 230,000 USD and cooperation opportunities for production, distribution and marketing.

  3. In addition, to encourage the creation of more Taiwanese international co-productions, TAICCA (Taiwan Creative Content Agency) is also offering international co-production incentives. Taiwanese filmmakers planning to shoot a project in Taiwan and abroad, and international filmmakers and production companies wanting to shoot in Taiwan are all welcome to apply.

B. ELIGIBILITY

  • The entry’s main storyline must feature LGBTQ+ themes and characters.

  • There are no limits of genre nor format.

  • The applicant must be the story’s copyright holder or the authorized representative of the copyright holder.

  • Each entry must be at least in pre-production stage.

  • The attached director and/or producer must be able to attend the 2020 GPS online events.

  • There is no limit to the number of entries each applicant can submit.

C. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • The director, producer or production company representative of selected entries must participate in the 2020 GPS online events. If they fail to fulfill this requirement, 2020 GPS reserves the final right to cancel their participation.

  • The organization will review and confirm the submitted information is complete and the entry has been processed. The processing time for each entry is between 1 to 3 working days. The confirmation will be notified by email.

  • If the information submitted by the applicant is insufficient or false, 2020 GPS reserves the final right to cancel their participation.

  • In case of violation to the regulations, 2020 GPS reserves the rights to disqualify a project from participation.

D. SUBMISSION MATERIALS

To enter, please fill out the 2020 GPS online entry form, including:

  1. Logline (Chinese: 50 word limit; English 30 word limit)

  2. Project synopsis (Chinese: 300 word limit; English: 200 word limit)

  3. Director’s statement (Chinese: 200 word limit; English: 100 word limit)

  4. Treatment (Chinese: 2500 word limit; English: 1200 word limit)

  5. Project status  (Chinese: 200 word limit; English: 100 word limit)

  6. Target audience (Chinese: 50 word limit; English: 30 word limit)

  7. Goal for entering the 2020 GPS (Chinese: 200 word limit; English: 100 word limit)

  8. Introduction of the project: Record a 3 minute introduction video of the project including the creative motivation behind it.

  9. Main cast introduction (Chinese: 200 word limit; English: 100 word limit) (Optional)

  10. Director and Producer’s profile (Chinese: 100 word limit; English: 70 word limit)

  11. Director and producer photo (file must be larger than 400K, smaller than 1M)

  12. Production company’s profile (Chinese: 150 word limit; English 100 word limit)

  13. Copy of company license (file must be smaller than 1M)

  14. Production budget overview 

  15. Director’s previous work (please provide download link and password; not required if there is no previous work). File format: resolution 1280*720, size not exceeding 2GB, MP4 format.

  16. Authorization agreement of the adapted screenplay (Not required for original screenplay. Please submit this documentation after being selected)

E. DEADLINES

The online submissions will open at 10:00, October 16, 2020 and close at 24:00, November 6, 2020.

F. SELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT

  • In early November, a pre-selection of 15 projects will be announced.

  • Pre-selected projects will be part of 2020 GPS (GagaOOLala Pitching Sessions) on November 16, and each will have 20 minute meetings online with the 2020 GPS advisors.

  • The selected projects will be announced during the 2020 Taiwan Creative Content Fest International Market (November 17-22).

TAICCA International Co-Production Incentives

❊In order to encourage Taiwanese creators to embark in international co-productions and international creators to tell Taiwanese stories, TAICCA in collaboration with GagaOOLala is offering this year the TAICCA International Co-Production Incentives during the 2020 GPS. More details will be announced in early November.
